Conflict of Interest

Updated 4 November 2026. A relevant relationship must be disclosed and managed before a review is described as independent.

What needs to be disclosed

An author, reviewer or contributor should identify relationships that could reasonably affect the work. Examples include employment by an organisation being assessed, consulting work, financial support, a close personal relationship, a competing project or a role in the proposed implementation.

Relevant expertise is useful, but it does not remove the need to explain an interest. Disclosure helps readers understand the scope and limits of a contribution.

Make the declaration specific

State the relevant relationship, the work it concerns and the role the person would perform. Record whether the person has declared no relevant interest, disclosed an interest, had the role limited or stepped away from the review.

Do not publish private account records, home addresses or unrelated personal information as a way to demonstrate transparency. The public explanation should contain only what is needed to understand the relevant interest.

Assign and manage the review

Consider the reviewer’s expertise, knowledge of the place, available time and relevant relationships. A person who designed, funded or delivered a project can explain it, but that contribution is different from an independent evaluation of its success.

Where a conflict could affect a decision, seek a suitable reviewer without that conflict, limit the person’s decision-making role or record why the work cannot yet receive an independent-review label. Declaring a conflict does not automatically resolve it.

Keep funding and partnerships separate from conclusions

Support must not purchase favourable findings, evidence labels, ratings, rankings, the omission of criticism or the suppression of a correction. A partnership must not turn a project announcement into proof of effectiveness.

Disclose a relevant support relationship beside the affected material. Review methods and results on their merits, including costs, harms and missing evidence.

Keep a decision record

Record the declaration date, the material reviewed, the relevant relationship, the management action and the person responsible for the decision. Revisit the record when a relationship or the work changes.

The current independently operated website does not claim that an external conflict committee or automated reviewer-assignment system is already running. Information Required: named review owners, an independent escalation arrangement and a maintained declaration register for the final service.

Raise a concern

Email support@indiafortomorrow.com with the page URL and the relationship or decision that concerns you. Include a reliable source if available. Describe the relevant issue without making an unsupported allegation or forwarding unnecessary private records.

Questions and answers

Questions about Conflict of Interest

Does disclosure remove a conflict of interest?

No. A disclosed relationship still needs assessment and an appropriate management action. The person’s role may need to be limited or reassigned.

Can a project implementer describe their own work?

Yes, with the relationship made clear. Their account of delivery is different from an independent assessment that the project improved outcomes.

Can financial support buy a favourable conclusion?

No. Support must not purchase ratings, evidence labels, favourable findings or the suppression of criticism or corrections.

What happens if an independent reviewer is unavailable?

Keep the missing review visible and avoid an independent-approval claim. Narrow the conclusion and record what review is still required.

How can I report an undisclosed interest?

Email support@indiafortomorrow.com with the page URL, the relevant relationship and a supporting source if available. Avoid unnecessary personal information.
